Inter Milan’s Alessandro Mancini, who was recently labelled by Olympique Marseille president as a man with a “lack of courtesy”, has hit out at the Ligue 1 side, claiming it was their fault he had chosen to remain in Italy. The Brazilian was expected to join Didier Deschamps’ squad after Inter and Marseille agreed terms, but Mancini failed to make an appearance within the set deadline by OM and subsequently remained part of the Nerazzurri.
"It is they who came to me inquiring. Then after disappearing for two weeks, they come back and demand a quick response? I’m sorry but I do not work like that,” Mancini said in L’Equipe. “I have a daughter to raise and I’m not going to decide my future on a whim.”
The 29-year-old’s refusal to switch clubs will likely result in his absence in the World Cup in South Africa. Having failed to impress manager Jose Mourinho since his switch from Roma in 2008, it is unlikely he will figure much more playing time in this campaign.
