Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted his side are entering a crucial period of the season where all games will be held in the highest regard. The Red Devils have quite a few competitions to worry about, currently in tight race for the Premier League title against Chelsea, facing AC Milan in the Champions League and a Carling Cup final against Aston Villa to attend all in the next few weeks. The wily Scot however, is confident his boys are up to the tough challenge.
“We’ve got an important period coming up and we’ve got to keep the momentum going,” declared Ferguson to the club’s official website. “Historically we’ve always grasped the nettle at this time of year and the players realise there is a lot at stake and they can’t afford inconsistency.”
United go on a daunting road trip starting with a visit to Villa Park on Wednesday night, before visiting the San Siro the week after, and Everton’s Goodison Park on the 20th. Should Ferguson’s side come through the month unscathed, the Red Devils will surely be in a strong position to win the league.
