Despite the breakdown of negotiations with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to get the winding-up order dropped, Portsmouth are still hopeful of a 28-day adjournment.

Manager Avram Grant has pleaded for the High Court to take the fans in consideration in their decision, saying, "I ask the court to think not about the situation they see on the papers, football is not just papers. This business belongs to the fans, they love this club."

Although the likelihood of an adjournment are high according to BBC Sport, the club are still in danger of being relegated, as they sit rock bottom of the Premier League with a measly 16 points. Grant’s side have failed to win in the Premier League since the middle of December and are ever more likely to be playing their football in the Championship next season.
