The ever influential Tim Cahill believes Everton have turned the corner in the season after a particularly slow start. David Moyes’ side has lost just once in their last eight Premier League matches, and have recently shocked leaders Chelsea 2-1, in a special night at Goodison Park.

"I’m very blessed to play for such a great football club, and I always say you have to run through brick walls, regardless of knocks and injuries. We have that right mental attitude,” Cahill said to UEFA.com. “Drawing against Arsenal recently, beating Man City, that isn’t a fluke – that’s hard work and showing our mettle. Hopefully we can just grow stronger."

Everton face Sporting Lisbon in a last 16 Europa League tie in midweek, with the first leg being played at home. The last time Moyes’ squad faced a Portuguese side, the Merseyside outfit were hammered 5-0 by Benfica in the group stages.
