Barcelona’s troubles at the weekend were compounded by an injury to first-team regular Seydou Keita, who is likely to face a spell of four weeks on the sidelines. The Mali international has been preferred over Yaya Toure in the defensive midfield role this season, and has been largely impressive.

Keita lasted only two minutes in the match against Atletico Madrid at the weekend, suffering a hamstring tear in an attempt to control a ball in midfield.

With 28 appearances for Barcelona already this season, Keita has already matched last campaign’s total of 6 goals. His presence will surely be missed as the Catalan giants are already short on defensive players, with Dani Alves, Yaya Toure and Eric Abidal already out injured.
