Despite losing to Atletico Madrid on Sunday night, and subsequently having their lead at the top of the La Liga standings cut to just two points by bitter rivals Real Madrid, manager Pep Guardiola was generally happy with his team’s performance. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 27th minute strike was not enough to overturn early goals from Diego Forlan and Simao.

I congratulate Atletico for a good game played. They were very well organized. We weren’t at our best, as we had no passing continuity, but I have no reproaches to make the team. We have given everything, but we’ve come up short. We could’ve done without turning the ball over so much, but Atletico Madrid have made a very good game,” Guardiola said after the match.

Barca will attempt to get back to winning ways when they host Racing Santander at the Camp Nou at the weekend.
