Bolton Wanderer’s highly-rated centre-back Gary Cahill is showing promising signs of recovery from a season-ending blood clot in his arm. Although the progress has gone swiftly, manager Owen Coyle remains cautious about assessing the defender’s chances of returning to action before the campaign ends.

“We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves but the clot has dissolved and we’ll revisit it in two weeks with a scan with a top specialist in that field," said Coyle in the Premier League’s official website. “Having done that we will see what the picture is from there but there should be some news in two weeks and hopefully it will be of the better variety."

The 24-year-old Cahill, who has continued to impress as a Bolton regular, is believed to be the subject of plenty of interest from England’s biggest clubs.
