January signing Sol Campbell could be in line to start against Porto in the hostile Estadio do Dragao. With William Gallas, who missed the trip to Portugal, possibly out for ten days, the 36-year-old veteran could be in for a brief run of games should he be preferred over former Manchester United defend Mikael Silvestre.

“Sol has experience,” said Wenger at Tuesday’s press conference. “That was one of the key reasons why we re-signed him. I thought that, if he needs to come in, he can give that to us. He has done well already and coped well with situations."

Should Campbell feature in the match against Porto, it will be his first Champions League game since missing out on winning the competition against Barcelona in the final of the 2006 edition.
