Marseille over came Copenhagen 3-1 in the first leg of their last 32 Europa League tie, much to the delight of manager Didier Deschamps. The French side will now take the second leg back to the familiar surrounding of home, with a comfortable two goal advantage, and three away goals scored.

We’ve taken a good opportunity. It is a very good result. With three away goals and two goal lead, we made a very, very good result. We must be vigilant to return, but we have good flexibility,” Deschamps said in France Football. The first period was complicated, relatively tight and Copenhagen created an opportunity. In the end, Copenhagen wanted to attack and left us plenty of space to exploit.”

Deschamps also expressed his delight at substitute Hatem Ben Arfa, who scored a magnificently tight-angled goal to restore Marseille’s lead late in the second half.
