Liverpool overcame an early goal from Unirea Urziceni to win in Romania 3-1, booking their place in the last 16 of the Europa League. Although The Reds are undoubtedly pleased with their passage into the next round, an injury blow to Martin Skrtel leaves a bittersweet taste in manager Rafael Benitez’s mouth.

We don’t know how serious it is but it could be a broken foot," said the Liverpool boss after the second-leg win. "That would be bad news but we will have to wait and see what happens but it was a bad tackle.”

Skrtel has been a mainstay in the Liverpool defence this year, making 29 appearances for the Kop side already this season. His presence will be missed when The Reds take on Blackburn at the weekend.
