Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez was understandably disappointed to see his side go down to a 1-0 defeat away to Wigan last night. The Reds boss, who commented before the match that his side could afford no more slip-ups, questioned the attitude of his team.

Benitez told Liverpool’s official site: "It was a question of attitude in the first half. The players showed character in the second half. Sometimes we were in too much of a hurry with out play in the second half, but at least we showed character."

The defeat has put a serious dent in Liverpool’s charge for fourth place and the Champions League spot that goes along with it. The Spanish boss is promising to look closely at the loss however. "It’s a question of analysing why we didn’t show the character we had to show in the first half."

With games coming thick and fast the Anfield giants must recover quickly.
