Manchester City’s on loan attacker Robinho has come to the defence of Brazil team-mate Kaka after the press continued to attack Real Madrid for their surprising exit from the Champions League at the hands of Lyon. The 26-year-old took his fair share of stick during his time with Los Blancos, and is sure the former AC Milan talisman will be able to handle the pressure.

What is happening now at Real Madrid is not new. When things go wrong, they always blame the foreign players. What’s happening to Kaka is exactly what happened to me,” Robinho said on Spanish daily Marca. “Kaka is spectacular and will recover from this situation. I’m sure he will go on to succeed with the shirt of Real Madrid and will achieve many successes with the Brazil team.”

Robinho’s loan move back to boyhood club Santos has been successful so far, with the mercurial attacker scoring four goals already in only five appearances.
