Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill has encouraged Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor to continue to give their all and push to get their chance to join the England squad in the World Cup. The duo have been in impressive form for their club, and the Irish boss is hoping they will not be disheartened by their lack of exposure at the international level.

"I would hope they wouldn’t just give up on it and feel that they aren’t going to get that chance,” O’Neill said on the club’s official website. “While there’s still time, if they still harbour that ambition which I am sure they will deep down, I would say – don’t give it up.”

Agbonlahor is currently Villa’s top scorer with 14 goals, while Young has been prolific on the wings with 12 assists.
