Liverpool outcast Ryan Babel, who was speculated to be on his way out in the January transfer window, has come out to claim he has always been keen to remain with the Merseyside outfit. Despite rumours claiming he was desperate to leave, the Dutchman has spoken out to say all he wants to do is show the Kop faithful his best.

"Slowly I’m feeling stronger. Hopefully now I can continue to get stronger. With every game you’ll start to see the best of me,” Babel said on the club’s official website. “I was always happy at Liverpool. Obviously you’re always frustrated when you can’t show people what you can do – but that’s not just me, that’s every player. But that’s the past and now I want to go forward here at Liverpool."

The 23-year-old has failed to keep up with the expectations placed on him since his transfer from Ajax in 2007, but is determined to bounce back as the season reaches a critical point.
