Jose Mourinho enjoyed a triumphant return to Stamford Bridge yesterday, much to the dismay of the Chelsea supporters. The Blues needed to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit, but found it difficult to breakdown an impressive Inter Milan side that was quite clearly better prepared. Manager Carlo Ancelotti humbly admitted his side were second best on the night, claiming the Italian giants deserve their passage into the quarterfinals.

Inter played a very good game,” the Italian conceded on the club’s official website. “They put strong pressure on the pitch on our midfielders so we were not able to play how we wanted. Inter deserved to win. We were never in full control. There was only a short period when we could control the game. We could have played better.”

Chelsea will now have to regroup and focus on chasing down Premier League leaders Manchester United, as they attempt to salvage a major trophy after their disappointing Champions League exit.
