Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes Theo Walcott should not be judged based on a season where the youngster has been plagued by injuries. Criticism has been aimed at the 21-year-old for his lacklustre displays upon his return from fitness problems, but the former Gunner believes all that is lacking is a healthy run of games.

"Players like Theo Walcott have massive potential," Parlour said on Arsenal’s official website. "I would not say he has had a bad season it is just that he has not had a run in the team. Against Burnley, he was brilliant, absolutely fantastic. But if you are going to be a big player you need to do that week in week out at a consistent level.”

Despite his very young age, much has been expected of Walcott since his scintillating displays for club and country. Now that he his getting back in the thick of the action, he will be gearing up to shoot down his critics.
