Liverpool have had some very memorable European nights at Anfield, and Dirk Kuyt is hoping his side will produce another one to overturn Lille’s 1-0 first-leg advantage. Although The Reds will be competing in the Europa League tonight, rather than the more familiar Champions League, the Dutchman is calling for the same level of commitment.
“We want to make it a special night. Everyone remembers some of the special Champions League nights we have had and I know unfortunately we are not in that competition now this season, but we have to make the best of it,” Kuyt said on the club’s official website "There is a trophy to be won at the end of the season and we will do our best to try and make it happen, but we first have to overcome Lille."
Should Liverpool fail to turn the tie around and exit the Europa League, they will have lost all chances of winning any silverware this season.
