According to reports on France Football, Bayern Munich are monitoring Hamburg’s Eljero Elia as a candidate to replace Franck Ribery should he ultimately decide to leave the German giants in the summer. Although no announcements have been made regarding the Frenchman’s exit, it is believed success in the Champions League this season will be the key factor in his decision to stay with the Bundesliga outfit, or leave for greener pastures.

Should Ribery ultimately lean towards a new adventure, 23-year-old Elia, who has been capped six times by the Netherlands is believed to be the primary target. The winger has impressed since his move from FC Twente in the summer, and has proven to be an instant hit.

Elia is contracted until 2014 with Hamburg however, and is expected to cost Bayern around €14M should they attempt to sign him.
