Bordeaux go into their Champions League tie against Olympique Lyon tonight on the back of a disappointing defeat to Olympique Marseille in the French League Cup. Although the defeat will be a blow to Laurent Blanc and his side, his counterpart Claude Puel hasn’t picked up any ideas on how to better tackle his fellow Ligue 1 side in their European tie.

I’m expecting an even match. Bordeaux have an advantage as they’re at home in the second leg. This is the European Cup and you can’t compare it to the league matches we’ve played against Bordeaux, although those games are always hard fought,” Puel explained on UEFA.com. “Their defeat in the League Cup hardly gave me any more ideas as to how they play; every match is different.”

Lyon, who are currently now just two points off leaders Bordeaux in the league, go into the match with a win at the weekend over rock-bottom Grenoble.
