Speculation in the Catalan capital Barcelona suggests that Cesc Fabregas could have played his last game for Arsenal. Despite repeated denials from both The Gunners and their midfielder, Barcelona remain confident that they can tempt Fabregas to the Camp Nou next season, according to Sport.

Fabregas is almost certain to miss the rest of the season for Arsenal due to a cracked fibula sustained during the 2-2 Champions League draw with Barcelona. This should mean the Spaniard will be unavailable for the rest of the Premier League campaign, and, unless Arsenal manage to see off the La Liga giants and go on to reach the Champions League final, it is unlikely Fabregas will wear his club’s shirt again this season.

The Spanish midfielder has long been a target of Barcelona and this new speculation suggests president Joan Laporta is keen to deliver Fabregas’ signature in time for next season. The Camp Nou giants are well aware that Arsenal do not wish to sell their captain and would only entertain bids of €50M+, an amount Barcelona seem unwilling to pay at present.

But with Sport believing Barcelona are keen to conclude a deal before the World Cup, there could be more developments to come in this ongoing saga.
