Former Manchester United youngster Frazier Campbell has proven to be an excellent addition to the Sunderland squad in the last few weeks, as he made the most of an extended run in the side. Manager Steve Bruce was particularly impressed with his performance against Tottenham Hotspur, one he described as the striker’s “best” as a Black Cat.

"Fraizer has waited patiently this season and he was absolutely excellent," Bruce said on the club’s official website. "Whether he thought he had something to prove I don’t know – I don’t think he does. He caused them problems all day and produced a fantastic performance,” he continued. "Without doubt it was his best performance for Sunderland. I’ve asked people to stand up and be counted over the last few weeks and Fraizer’s always been there. That’s great to see from a young boy."

Campbell earned a penalty and set up two goals against Spurs at the weekend, signs that the 22-year-old is showing what he is truly capable of.
