Bordeaux’s impressive season is under serious threat of becoming unravelled in recent weeks, with Laurent Blanc’s side dropping their last three games in all competitions. The defeats leave the French side on the wrong end of a domestic Cup final, on the brink of Champions League elimination, and in fourth in the Ligue 1 tables.

To heap more pressure on the struggling side, the club have confirmed that defensive midfielder Fernando Menegazzo will be facing some time on the sidelines after fracturing his cheekbone at the weekend. "More scans will take place in the next four or five days to assess how long he will be unavailable," a club statement said.

Bordeaux will have to do without Fernando tomorrow night, when they attempt to reverse a 3-1 deficit against Olympique Lyon in their Champions League quarter-final second leg.
