France striker David Trezeguet has been linked with a shock move to Brazilian side Corinthians. The 32-year-old is widely expected to leave Italy at the end of the current season and it had always been assumed he would head for France, with Lyon the latest Ligue 1 side to show an interest.

Now though a report in France Football suggests a move to Brazilian football is possible for Trezeguet. Roberto Carlos, the legendary left back now plying his trade with Corinthians has confirmed he did receive a phone call from someone supposedly close to the striker.

"Last week I received a call from an old friend in France, very close to David Trezeguet, who said he was ready to play for Corinthians."

With Corinthians already having Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo on their books, Trezeguet would add to the growing number of stars willing to play in Brazil’s Serie A. Indeed, it appears the global economic crisis has only benefited the Brazilian game.
