Real Madrid summer signing Xabi Alonso is chomping at the bit to be involved in the highly anticipated clash against Barcelona at the weekend. With both Spanish league titans at each others’ throats in the title race, the match to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu is shaping up to be one of the biggest El Clasico clashes.

"I have seen many Real Madrid-Barcelona matches on TV and I cannot wait to experience such a showdown at the Santiago Bernabeu,” Alonso admitted on the club’s official website. “It is one of the most talked about matches of the season. Being able to play in it is wonderful, but even more so this season. The teams are neck and neck and the race to the title is so close."

The match couldn’t come at a better time in the season for two clubs, who are both currently enjoying amazing runs of form.
