Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt has heaped massive praise on talismanic striker Fernando Torres after the Spanish international set a new record of four consecutive braces at Anfield. The prolific finisher, who helped fire The Reds to the semi-finals of the Europa League at the expense of Benfica, has now amassed 22 goals this season, despite missing out on plenty of matches due to injury.

"When they scored we knew they would have to push hard so there would be a lot of space for us to try and take advantage of, so we tried to stay focused, but when you’ve got Fernando in your side you don’t worry because you know he will always do something special,” Kuyt explained on the club’s official website. "He is just a very special player and this was a great night for us."

Torres is now set to make a return to former club Atletico Madrid, who defeated Valencia in the quarter-finals to set up a clash with Liverpool.
