Last year’s winner of the UEFA Cup, Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu believes, surprise-package Fulham have a great chance to go on and win the Europa League this year. Despite the Premier League club never contesting a European semi-final before, the Romanian boss is confident they have what it takes to triumph in the competition.

“Fulham can do it even if they have to play against Liverpool or Atlético Madrid [in the final] because they have improved their game from one match to the next,” the 64-year-old explained. “They are much more powerful than at the beginning. They are a good, very organised team and have a very good coach.”

Shakhtar were surprisingly eliminated by Fulham in the round of 32, before the English club went on to dump Juventus out of the competition as well.
