Sol Campbell’s return to Arsenal in January has proven to be a huge success for both the player and the club, and the 35-year-old is keen to extend his short-term deal to take him into next season. Although the defender has impressed when called upon, the veteran admits he is in the dark as to what manager Arsene Wenger has planned for him.

I really don’t know what’s going to happen," said Campbell on the league’s official website. "But of course I want to play [for Arsenal]! That’s a stupid question, really,” he continued. "The boss has always done it as he does. He might phone me in July, might speak to me next week, but for me I’m just going to concentrate on the last few games. He will do it in his own way, as he always does.”

Campbell has been a rare bright spot in The Gunners’ end-of-season meltdown, encouraging signs that the former Portsmouth player could be playing for Arsenal again next season.
