West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola has been handed a massive boost in his bid to steer the club clear of relegation, with word that long-term absentee Luis Boa Morte is back fit after an 11-month battle with a nagging knee injury.

It is nice to have Luis Boa Morte back around the squad. He is another important player for his enthusiasm and his energy,” Zola said on the league’s official website. “We have missed him on and off the pitch but hopefully he will be able to play his part before the end of the season."

The Hammers are currently positioned precariously close to the relegation zone, as they sit just three points clear of Hull City, who are in the drop zone and have played a game less.
