Despite seeing off Real Zaragoza and keeping the pressure up on Barcelona, Real Madrid suffered injuries to Raul and Rafael van der Vaart in their 2-1 win at La Romareda.

Raul suffered a sprained ankle, while van der Vaart picked up a torn hamstring in his left leg. The Dutchman therefore must be considered a real doubt for next weekend’s home meeting with Osasuna.

Real Madrid cannot afford to drop any more points if they are to stand a chance of overhauling Barcelona in La Liga, and injuries to key players are blows they could well do without.
