According to Catalan daily Sport, Barcelona are not satisfied with their left side of defence, which is currently held down by the aging Eric Abidal and underwhelming summer-signing Maxwell. The record-breaking side are believed to be eyeing Arsenal’s Gael Clichy as their primary target to reinforce their left-back options.

Arsenal are unlikely to want to depart with the impressive young Frenchman, who is currently valued at around €18M, but if offered a favourable deal, could decide to budge. The Catalan giants are also reported to be unwilling to depart with such a large sum, but are open to a possible deal involving a player swap.

It is believed that Barca are considering swapping youngster Bojan Krkic in order to strengthen, what they feel, is the weak link in their squad.
