Ivica Olic continued his magnificent form in the Champions League yesterday, scoring an impressive hat-trick to book his club a place in the final, and end Olympique Lyon’s impressive run in the tournament. The Croatian striker was undoubtedly the star of the night, but was quick to praise the team for his spectacular display.

"It was a dream, but the whole team played great football," Olic said on UEFA.com. "We were very compact, and our defence and midfield performed very well. With such performances we created chances from the back, out of defence and midfield, and then it’s easy for me in attack."

Although Arjen Robben received the plaudits for knocking Manchester United in the previous round, Olic was equally massive for Bayern in the quarter-finals. The 30-year-old was responsible for the vital go-ahead goal in the dying stages of the first leg match in Germany, and was also on target in the first half of the second leg to keep his club in the tie before Robben’s eventual screamer.
