Aston Villa propelled themselves straight back into the thick of the race for fourth spot in the Premier League last weekend, when they defeated Birmingham City to surge to fifth in the standings, level on points with Tottenham Hotspur. Few tipped The Villains to remain in the hunt for Champions League qualification with the season drawing to a close, but defender Richard Dunne claims his side never lost faith.

A lot of people just classed it as the end of our season when we lost to Chelsea,” the centre-back said on the club’s official website. "But we still felt there were games there to win and we thought we could put a run together and keep that challenge going for fourth. It’s turned out that way. We’ve given ourselves a chance with two games to go.”

Villa play Manchester City in a massive match at the weekend, before rounding out the season against Blackburn Rovers a week after.
