Having lost first-choice goalkeeper Shay Given to a dislocated shoulder at the weekend, and with a lack of cover in the position, Manchester City were granted permission to make an emergency loan to find a replacement.

With only three matches remaining in the Premier League, and Man City chasing a Tottenham Hotspur for the fourth spot in the standings, Sunderland’s Marton Fulop has been handed the responsibility of stepping into Given’s large boots.

Although The Blues were also attempting to bring back Birmingham City’s on loan keeper Joe Hart, Roberto Mancini’s side will have to settle for the Hungarian international. A statement on the club’s official website read, “Agreement has not been reached with Birmingham, but we anticipate that Marton Fulop will join us in training tomorrow and we thank him and Sunderland AFC for their help in this situation.”
