Josep Guardiola’s side was one goal away from reaching the Champions League final, but couldn’t add to Gerard Pique’s strike, despite Inter Milan needing to play for most of the match with a man short. The second-year manager conceded after the match, that not even the attacking prowess of Barcelona could do much against the defensive-minded Inter Milan.

I know we’re Barça but when nine players are defending inside the opposition box it’s not easy. Sometimes attacking seems a lot harder than defending,” Guardiola said on UEFA.com. “We tried, but they defended well. We won’t be looking for excuses. Every player, every coach and every team plays how they want to and it’s not for me to judge.

Although Barca supporters and neutrals will feel frustrated by Inter’s extremely negative mindset in the match, Mourinho, and his club’s supporters will undoubtedly feel, at the end of the day, passage into the final is all that matters.
