After a spectacular season with Panathinaikos, striker Djibril Cisse could be on his way to being selected as part of France’s 23-man squad for the World Cup. The former Liverpool player has been reborn in the last campaign, scoring 29 goals to help the Greek club win the domestic league title.

Along with the dips in form of Real Madrid youngster Karim Benzema and Barcelona veteran Thierry Henry, Cisse is looking ever more likely to be included in manager Raymond Domenech’s squad for the looming tournament in June.

The mercurial French striker missed out on the last two major international competitions due to injury, but is now looking set for a deserved inclusion in the Les Bleus squad for South Africa.
