Barcelona succeeded in creating more football history when they won over Tenerife 4-1 yesterday, bringing their points total to 93, the highest ever chalked up in a single La Liga season. What makes the feat even more impressive, is the fact that there are still two games left to play in the campaign.

“Of course we want to win the league but nothing more can be demanded of this team,” said a jubilant Josep Guardiola. “We have been competing since August and here we are, with plenty of games under our belt. Let them do what want, if they win the league well and good, but if not, I am still proud. Week after week, this team gives their all, it is impressive.

The Catalan giants have amassed 29 wins, six draws and just one defeat, in a remarkable season so far.
