Talented youngster Phil Jones has agreed to remain with Blackburn Rovers for another five years, much to the delight of his manager Sam Allardyce. The 18-year-old defender has been thrust into the limelight this season, after impressing against Chelsea and Manchester United upon his promotion into the senior side.

The Preston-born defender never looked overwhelmed playing around world-class talent, and was instrumental in ensuring Rovers got an impressive point from both the Blues and the Red Devils earlier in the season.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City were all believed to have been tracking the talented centre-back, a testament to the quality of the Blackburn youth product. Jones has chosen to remain with his boyhood club however, where he will most certainly get more games and experience under his belt.
