Cristiano Ronaldo almost single-handedly kept the title race tight last night, as he proved too much for a hapless Mallorca side. The victory cuts Barcelona’s lead to just one point from Real Madrid, who the Portuguese attacker describes as, “anxious to be champions.” Although he admits that the Catalan giants “are in great form,” he is nonetheless “convinced we’ll (Real) win.”

The former Manchester United standout scored his first hat-trick for Los Blancos in the vital match, a feat that he feels is a feat that should be shared with the rest of the squad. "I am very happy with my hat-trick, but merit also belongs to my team-mates, who have helped me immensely during my first year adapting to the team. The important thing is to be able to help the team,” he said on the club’s official website.

Real’s biggest hope of a Barcelona slip up will come this weekend, when the record-breaking side face Sevilla in their penultimate match of the season.
