Despite looking like a certainty to be part of the France squad for the World Cup at the start of the season, Karim Benzema, according to France Football, is now in danger of losing his ticket to South Africa.

The young French phenomenon was flying at the end of the 2008/09 season, with few expecting the horrendous turn in form he would suffer when he made the massive switch to Real Madrid. With Los Blancos, Benzema could only manage a disappointing 9 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions, a return that was far below what was expected of him.

Olympique Lyon’s former talismanic striker is undoubtedly with plenty of talent and potential, but his recent form for Real Madrid could see him ultimately left out of the 23-man squad France coach Raymond Domenech selects for the World Cup.
