Bordeaux will not play in the Champions League next season after a poor campaign from the former Ligue 1 champions. Much speculation has surrounded coach Laurent Blanc and his future, speculation which has surely not helped according to president Jean-Louis Triaud.

The president told Canal+ "We can never really know what effect it has had. At best it’s been neutral, but at worst it’s been negative."

And on rumours that Blanc will take over as France coach after the World Cup Triaud is unsure. "I have not been told anything" said the Bordeaux supremo.

A lack of confirmation on Blanc’s future has not stopped the rumour mill suggesting who might be the next Bordeaux boss though, with Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu strongly linked.
