Rafael Marquez could be on his way to the MLS with Barcelona team-mate Thierry Henry, according to reports on Catalan daily Sport. Despite just signing an extension until 2012 back in November, the Mexican defender is understood to be growing frustrated at his decreasing involvement with the record-breaking side.

Marquez made only 22 appearances in Barcelona’s recent La Liga-winning campaign, as he continued to be overlooked in favour of the likes of Maxwell, Gabriel Milito and even Dmytro Chygrynsky.

With the MLS transfer window opening up in mid-July, the United States’ premier football league could be on the verge of snapping up two quality Barca veterans in France captain Henry and Mexico skipper Marquez. Both will be leading their national team’s in the coming World Cup, but the duo may not be plying their trade at the Camp Nou when the tournament concludes.
