Bayern Munich, whilst not winning the Champions League final last night, do have reason to celebrate. Why? Because arguably the most talented player at the club, in Franck Ribery, has chosen to extend his contract.

Ribery, heavily linked with Chelsea and Real Madrid last summer, has signed on the dotted line with Bayern in a deal which sees him tied to the German club until 2015 and greatly strengthens the Allianz Arena outfit’s bargaining position should they sell.

The contract was, according to France Football, signed just before the Champions League final.

"I am very happy to stay in Munich, and my family too", said Ribery. "Bayern has become a big family to me."
