Arsenal will face opposition from AC Milan should they choose to follow up their initial interest in Marseille star Stephane Mbia. The Cameroon midfielder, who operated for most of the season in central defence to great effect, is fast becoming one of the hottest properties of the summer, and a good World Cup display will only increase his admirers.

According to L'Equipe, the Cameroon star can add AC Milan to his list of interested parties, alongside Arsenal and Bayern Munich. Mbia is widely believed to have a clause in his contract allowing him to leave the Stade Velodrome if an offer of €18M is sent to the south coast, and this should act as a break on any bidding war.

AC Milan are keen to add to their defensive options for next season and will readily rival Arsenal and Bayern Munich. The message from Marseille though continues to be the same, Mbia is not for sale.
