Manchester City are stepping up their interest in Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko. The Premier League club, who missed out on Champions League football, are keen to further strengthen their attacking options and are hoping to tempt the German side to part with the Bosnian.

Wolfsburg, now coached by former England boss Steve McClaren, are keen to keep hold of Dzeko, deeming him critical to the club's push to recover from a disappointing 8th place finish. However, City may yet have a joker in the form of Craig Bellamy, who has emerged as a very real target of McClaren in recent weeks.

While Wolfsburg will play hardball over Dzeko, a big money offer including Bellamy, or possible Roque Santa Cruz returning to the Bundesliga he left in 2007, could be an outcome to suit all parties.
