Representatives of Manchester City were in Barcelona yesterday to see which stars they could steal away from the Camp Nou giants. Discussions with Barcelona officials saw three names mentioned by City: Yaya Toure, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Dani Alves.

The suggestion of a €45M offer for Alves was indeed, according to Catalan daily Sport, the surprise of the meeting for Barcelona. The English club were met with a polite but firm "no".

Manchester City were also dealt a blow with the news that Yaya Toure, despite Barcelona being perfectly willing to part with the Ivory Coast midfielder, is not keen on a move to Eastlands. Indeed, Toure's agent Dimitri Selcuk stated: "Toure is far from City". Instead, the former Olympiacos player is looking to move only to a club in the Champions League, with both Chelsea and Manchester United possible options.

The case of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is more fluid. While Barcelona may be willing to deal, the Swede being valued at €50M, Ibrahimovic himself does not like the British weather and would need some convincing to swap the Spanish coast for North West England.
