Having spent £100M in the same period last year, it is no wonder why plenty of eyes are firmly on Manchester City in the summer transfer window. The mid-table side turned mega-rich club have been linked with several players around Europe, but manager Roberto Mancini is adamant the media are getting a little carried away with their speculations.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Italian said, “I keep reading that I am going to sign lots of players in the summer and am also going to sell lots of players. This is not true, and I am surprised because people know that I already have a very strong squad at Manchester City.”

The Citizens finished fifth last season, only just missing out on Champions League qualification. Expectations will undoubtedly be higher in the next campaign though, and Man City are being linked heavily with moves for Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko and Bourdeaux midfielder Yoann Gourcuff.
