AS Roma have confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Fabio Simplicio on a three-year deal. The Brazilian 30-year-old opted not to extend his contract with Palermo, as he felt it was time for a new challenge after spending four seasons with the club.

The player joins Roma on a deal that is expected to earn the attacker €1.8M per season. A former key player for Parma, Simplicio will add extra creativity to a side that is desperate to kick on after a disappointing second place finish in the Serie A race last season.

With Jose Mourinho leaving Inter Milan, the race for the Scudetto will surely be an interesting one, as clubs such AC Milan, Roma and Juventus attempt to wrestle the title away from the dominating nerazzurri.
