Outgoing Olympique Lyon player Sidney Govou, whose contract is coming to an end, has expressed his desire to move to the Premier League in the summer. The 30-year-old isn’t interested in joining West Ham United however, as the Frenchman feels he deserves to be in a club with more prestige.

The Hammers were in a relegation scrap last year, and Govou feels he should be moving to a club that will challenge for top honours. According to reports on L’Equipe, the Premier League club submitted a bid for the French international, but was flatly rejected by the attacker.

Govou is part of France’s 23-man squad for the World Cup, and is hoping to use the massive stage as a platform to create more interest in his services.
