New Inter boss Rafael Benitez is keen to beat off English competition to snap up Valencia winger David Silva. Benitez, who tracked Silva throughout his time at Anfield, but never had the budget to make a firm bid, believes the Spaniard would be a huge success at the San Siro and could develop into one of the best in the world.
Benitez will face competition for the Valencia man from Manchester City, while Manchester United have also shown interest in the past. Nevertheless, the Spaniard is confident that a €35M bid would be accepted by Valencia and that, given the choice, Silva would prefer to join his countryman in Serie A.
Valencia’s financial problems make it likely Silva will follow David Villa in exiting the Mestalla this summer, although only for the right price after the former’s transfer to Barcelona took some pressure off the books.
