After a horrendous error against the United States in England’s opening match, Robert Green has recovered and is ready for Algeria on Friday, according to West Ham United team-mate Matthew Upson. The Hammers’ skipper believes the goalkeeper has put the mistake behind him, and is ready to perform once again for the Three Lions.

Robert Green is 100 per cent ready to play on Friday," said the 31-year-old on the club’s official website. "These mistakes happen, although I cannot ever recall him doing anything like that. He is a big boy and has handled it really well. He just has to put it behind him and move on."

Although Green is looking likely to maintain his spot as first-choice keeper, Upson has had no such luck forcing his way into the England starting XI, with Jamie Carragher likely to partner John Terry in defence.
